Training academy ready for QCTO implementation

With the change of training qualifications from the present Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) structure to that of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) on 1 July 2024, skills development providers need to be ready to offer revised curricula.

Onc such provider is Infinity Academy, a QCTO accredited training provider, ready to offer various qualifications in South Africa.

“Acknowledging that our training modules would fall under the scope of the QCTO remit, our academy transitioned from the SETA accreditation over to the new QCTO accreditation requirements in 2023,” explains Lee Roelofse, ODETDP Practitioner and CEO of Infinity Academy.

“As the QCTO takes over the accreditation, implementation and certification of all occupational qualifications from SETAs, companies need to understand what the implications of these changes are to ensure that they safeguard their skills development initiatives and ensure that there is minimal risk not only to their Skills Development scorecard, but the BEE scorecard as a whole. The Academy is a Level 2 BEE provider, essential for a company’s skills development initiatives and BEE scorecard.”

The QCTO prioritises rigorous quality assurance methods and guarantees that certifications satisfy workplace standards. A unified system, such as the QCTO, can create identical criteria across all credentials, assuring consistency in skills and knowledge. Its simplified registration and accreditation processes make it easier for training providers to give high-quality qualifications.

“In addition, we are currently accredited to offer such courses as Occupational Certificate: Occupational Trainer; Occupational Certificate: Training and Development Practitioner; Occupational Certificate: Real Estate Agent and Skills programmes such as Learning and Development Facilitator; Assessment Practitioner; Skills Development Facilitation Practitioner; and Work Based Learning and Development Practitioner,” concludes Roelofse.
